Arrowsmith Silver SC21 Award

Arrowsmith progresses to SC21 Silver award success

Coventry based Arrowsmith Engineering has been recognised for continued high levels of quality and delivery performance by progressing up to Silver SC21 award level from its previously held Bronze status.

This ongoing commitment to the SC21 programme has helped Arrowsmith to complete a five-year plan to increase turnover from £1.8m to over £4m with 12 months to spare.

The company, which is a member of the Coventry and Warwickshire Aerospace Forum, is also flying highafter securing six-figure contracts for engine components with two of Aerospace’s global manufacturers.

To support this continued growth Arrowsmith has, during the past year, extended its facilities with a £450,000 extension giving the business an extra working space of 8,000 square feet which consists of a new 5,000 sq ft factory plus extra office space for a team of CAD designers, quality engineers and interns.

SC21 is a programme of continuous improvement designed to increase the competitiveness of the Aerospace, Defence & Security (ADS) industries by increasing supply chain performance to the levels necessary to meet the unprecedented demand for new aircraft that is forecast for the next twenty years.

 

As well as demonstrating improved levels of Quality and Delivery, Arrowsmith also had to be assessed in SC21 Relationships Excellence (RelEx). RelEx is a framework assessment used to support organisations wishing to drive business results by developing a collaborative working approach with customers using relationship lean tools and techniques.

 

The RelEx assessment was carried out by SC21 Strategic Partners DB Concept Solutions in September and showed long term, well established relationships exist between Arrowsmith and key suppliers/customers that have, for example, led to several EBQ (Economical Batch Quantities) being agreed to drive costs down. In addition, a business continuity plan has also been tested and approved by Rolls Royce.

 

Arrowsmith specialises in the production of fully certified machined components, from metals such as titanium and magnesium, for industries including Aerospace, Motorsport, Renewable Energy and Nuclear. Blue chip companies supplied by Arrowsmith include Rolls Royce, Meggitt, ITP, Pattonair, Bombardier and Eaton.

The company was presented with the award at the ADS SC21 Task Force meeting held at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry on November 8th.
